NaNoWriMo Day Two

NaNoWriMo Day 2 - word count: 1695

Excuses: needed to cook, had friends over to watch some Venture Brothers, I am lazy.

However, I still like the results. The world of Mnon keeps on growing in complexity.

Blue Rose game and NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo Day 1 - word count: 675

Yeah, that’s not fantastic. However, I am really pleased with the results of just under an hour of typing… While I probably won’t keep these particular words (most of them, anyway), getting to the task has helped me sort out what Shattered Mnon is like. Which is what I signed up for NaNoWriMo to do anyway…

My protagonist is shown to be relatively competent, in deep trouble, and all because dragons think they’re sooo much better than everyone else. And they are, really.

Last year, mickbradley (Mick of the House of the Harping Monkey) held a similar contest called (unfortunately) IntWoCreMo - International World Creation Month. During this frantic exercise in writing, I roughed-up a fantasy roleplaying world called “Ereas - The World Ocean”. It was a lot of fun and generated a few interesting scenarios. For this year’s NaNoWriMo competition, I’m “borrowing” something I created during the competition last year; the Clade.

So, in addition to dodging dragons, Rol (my tougher-than-nails scout) gets to avoid being consumed by a hive of horse-sized giant insects.

What the Hell is he doing that close to a Hive?!?

Blue Rose

As for the Blue Rose game, I found out from Blaine (the GM / Narrator) that this chapter of his chronicle is called “An Unexpected Trip”. Which fits now that we’ve started putting the spurs to the plot…

There are dire portents and signs! Iirrijur (my character) is beginning to believe the local House Noble is Up To Something(tm). My Envoys aren’t getting the support they need, and we’ve suddenly inherited a rhy-cat from a culture 300 miles away. Did I mention the ShadowGate we found during the *second session*?!?

Way to go, B! I’ve never been one to meander around the shoals when I could be flug bodily into the deep end with all the apex predators. Should be a hoot, destroying the ShadowGate. *If* we can break it.

Good times…

getting to play in Blue Rose

When it rains, it pours…

Looks like I’ll get to *play* tonight in a Blue Rose RPG that a good friend of mine is running. In it, I get to be a very low-level circuit Noble of the Azure Court collecting taxes and holding court cases as I work my route.

Doesn’t sound all that exciting, does it?

Well, consider that the nation of Aldis is populated with people who can read minds and discern when people are telling the truth. Makes my job a whole lot easier! The GM is focusing on the “romantic fantasy” aspect of this game; while I think there will be fights and traditional adventure-gaming mix-em-ups in the future, right now it’s about this new group of Envoys getting used to this punk Noble and his rather green take on governance. Who’s falling in love with whom? What will they do when they don’t requite?

Yeah. I don’t think this game is for the “Typical Gamer” dude.
